FAQs

Who does Northside Serve?

Our programs and services are for anyone struggling with the challenges of growing up. Our awesome staff is focused on assisting youth, adolescents, and adults through various behavioral and mental health concerns. This includes improving mental health, overcoming barriers, providing academic support, and assisting caregivers with strategies to support each young person.

What ages does Northside serve?

Our providers are here to help folks from all ages and backgrounds. We specialize in working with young people, but we were all young once! From 3-years-old to 83-years-old, we are confident that our providers can help.

What makes Northside special?

We are rooted in authenticity and care deeply for all our clients. We are a team, from practitioner to parent to caregiver to teacher to daycare provider to client. We want our clients to grow positively without losing the things that make them special. We want you to feel supported as a client and as a caregiver. We also have an arcade and a gecko in our waiting room… which is pretty unique.

Does Northside accept my insurance?

Most likely! Visit our "Insurance & Fees" page for more information.

How much will therapy cost?

We know cost is an important part of starting therapy. If you’re using insurance, your plan will determine your co-pay or deductible, and we’ll help you understand those details up front so there are no surprises. For those paying out-of-pocket, we offer affordable self-pay rates to keep care as accessible as possible. Visit our "Insurance & Fees" page to learn more.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes. What you share in therapy stays private, with a few exceptions required by law (for example, information pertaining to child or elder abuse). Additionally, if your provider is not independently licensed, they may need to share limited information with their supervisor to ensure that you receive high-quality care.

Can you share information with my doctor, school, or family?

Yes, but only with your permission—or if necessary to keep you or others safe. Your provider will discuss what information is shared and with whom, so you stay informed throughout the process.

Does Northside prescribe medications?

Our therapists do not prescribe medications. However, we do have a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) on staff who can provide medication management if appropriate, and will coordinate treatment with your therapist.

What should I expect in my first session?

Every provider has their own approach, but generally, the first session includes questions about your history and goals, time to get to know each other, and sometimes questionnaires or assessments. Certain insurances may also require a more structured intake process.

How long is a typical therapy session?

Session length is set by each provider in collaboration with their clients. Typically, adults and older teens are scheduled for 60 minutes, children and younger adolescents are scheduled for 45 minutes, and young children are seen for 30 minutes. Intake sessions usually take about an hour.

Does Northside provide psychological assessments?

Yes! We currently offer ADHD assessments for clients ages 6–25. We look forward to expanding our assessment services in the near future.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

You can see your provider's full availability and make cancellation and rescheduling requests through your client portal. If the session you're trying to cancel or reschedule is that day, please contact your provider directly. If you can’t reach them, please call or text our office at 402-937-7037 so we can assist you. Please note: your provider may charge a late cancellation/no-show fee if you cancel within 24 hours of your session or don't show up.

Does Northside offer telehealth/virtual sessions?

Yes! We offer secure telehealth sessions for clients who prefer or need to meet with their provider remotely.

How do I join my telehealth/virtual session?

At the time of your session, please log into your client portal and click on "Join Session." You can use a computer, tablet, or smartphone. If you're having trouble joining your session, please contact your provider directly.
